Biography

Carol Reilley is classically trained with an emphasis on drawing, painting, and color theory. By using color and value selectively, she creates a feeling of distance and a progression of light. Carol has worked in watercolor and oil for more than 30 years, and has traveled internationally for her studio and plein air work. She is past Vice-President for Ethan Allen, Inc. headquartered in CT. She currently resides in Sierra Vista, AZ where she paints and teaches. Her art is in galleries on both coasts.

Most of my paintings combine a varied approach to edges....soft, defined, broken and lost. This achieves that mysterious background when combined with detailed focal points, giving you a beautifully unique painting. I achieve that look by relying on wet-into-wet techniques in water color and creative glazing techniques in oil. The combination of the transparent and opaque oil textures in a floral or still life painting are beautiful and rare to find in art today. When you combine accomplished painting techniques and confident brush work you truly get a special painting.
