Basic Knitting
This class is designed to introduce the beginner to the basics of knitting and also to increase the knowledge and capabilities of the modestly experienced knitter. Instruction will include examples/discussions regarding various yarn and needle types, reading stitch patterns, pattern abbreviations, and gauge importance. Specific techniques such as casting on, knit, purl, increasing/decreasing stitches, yarn overs and binding off will be covered. The student may pick a pattern according to their skill level or use one provided in class. The instructor will be available prior to the class to assist in choosing the right material.

Biography
I learned to knit at about the age of 12 from my Grandmother. After retirement, I became what I would call a serious knitter, expanding my craft with the help of patient friends, knitting groups and organized classes. I enjoy learning new techniques and experimenting with different fibers. I also enjoy other fiber arts such as cross stitch, needlepoint, crochet and am interested in learning to weave.
